July 21, 2011 How Tom Green also created Owling
This is a still shot taken from the 1:08 mark of the now famous “Origins of Planking” video shot by Tom Green in Ottawa’s Byward Market back in 1994. There is another video of him planking back in 1990 but this one trumps the “Aussie’s invented Planking in 1997″ theory by 3 years.
About a minute into the video the gentleman in the jean jacket (He’s circled in red) squats down to see if Tom Green is alright. But watch his form. It’s a little difficult to see because of the kid standing in front of him but he does the first form of owling caught on film. It wouldn’t have happened if Tom Green didn’t “plank”
PLANKING LEADS TO OWLING
Thanks again Tom!
